Fish Oils, Fats That Heal

Tests on animals have shown that increased consumption of certain fats can reduce the number of natural killer cells (SPA) in the blood and spleen. SPA is an integral part of the immune system response to viral infections and some types of cancer. Researchers at Oxford University now report that fish oil is necessary to reduce the activity of SPA in human research subjects.
Their study involved 48 men and women aged 55-75 years. Participants were randomized to receive one of six supplements for 12 weeks. Supplements available in capsule form, three of which are consumed per meal. Nine types of capsules (taken daily) contains a total of 2 grams of alpha-linolenic acid, 770 mg gamma-linolenic acid (from evening primrose oil), 680 mg arachidonic acid, 720 mg docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), 720 mg eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) + 280 mg DHA (fish oil) or placebo (80:20 mixture, palm oil and sunflower). All participants had blood samples taken 4 weeks before the start of supplementation and then taken again every four weeks during the trial and also four weeks later.

The researchers found no change of killer cell activity except in the group who consumed fish oil. Here they observed an average decline of 20% after 8 weeks and 48% after 12 weeks. The decrease disappeared after fish oil consumption is stopped. The facts show no decrease in the provision of DHA, showed evidence that the EPA was the one who made this killer cell activity decreased arise. The researchers concluded that consuming EPA that pretty much will give a good effect for people who are at risk of viral infections and some cancers.
Fish oil supplements containing EPA have anti-inflammatory effects and beneficial for patients with rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis. However, this positive effect can be reduced if in our diet was high in linoleic acid. For 7-week controlled experiments involving 30 male volunteers have been conducted in Australia. Participants were given 1.6 grams of EPA and 0.32 g DHA per day. Half of the participants is maintained to keep a diet high in linoleic acid that is using margarine and polyunsaturated oils. The other half used butter (butter) and olive oil would mean lower linoleic acid.

Such experiments clearly show that fish oil consumption will increase benefits if the diet containing butter and fish oil. Margarine and polyunsaturated oils have kasiat inhibiting effects of fish oil and must be removed from the diet in order to gain maximum benefit from fish oil.
Fish oil supplementation in infants less nutrients may increase their DHA status. Researchers from the Netherlands found that fish oil is easily absorbed and raise the level of red blood cell DHA more than 47%. This can be achieved by giving 500 mg of fish oil every day, with each 500 mg contains 112 mg of DHA, administered for 9 weeks. The researchers stated that the increased levels of DHA did not result in concentrations of Omega-6 fatty acids RBC concern, because of the competitive relationship between omega-3 and omega-6. The study involved infants 8-30 months old Pakistani who lack nutrients and are given breast milk.
Good effect on the disease Lupus

According to one study, the fatty acids in fish such as tuna and salmon can help reduce the symptoms of lupus. The study involving 52 patients with lupus were followed for 6 months. Participants taking fish oil supplements three times a day, a supplement of copper, copper and fish oil, or placebo. Copper shows the result of zero, whereas all patients who took fish oil showed a decrease symptoms of lupus such as inflammation and fatigue are the most debilitating symptoms of lupus in the life of sufferers. Reportedly also, the increase in positive results ranged from normal up to the drastic.
Lupus is a disease where the immune system attacks the body's own tissues and organs, resulting in pain in the joints, fever, skin problems, kidney problems or heart and tremendous fatigue. The cause of lupus itself is unknown. Steroids and other drugs are often given for manipulating the conditions / symptoms, but in any case, this could lead to serious side effects. During the study, some patients taking fish oil and steroids simultaneously, it can reduce their steroid dose.
Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil is beneficial for growth, brain development, and good to fight inflammation and increase endurance, especially in times of healing. In addition, fish oil can be consumed by all age groups. Fish such as mackerel, trout, herring, sardines, tuna and salmon are an excellent resource.

For use as a health supplement, consume fish oil 3 times a day. For toddlers, provide a grain capsule / half a teaspoon of oil each time consumption. For children over five years, 2 eggs capsules / one teaspoon of oil and to adults, 3-4 grains of capsules / one tablespoon of fish oil.
