Vitamins in general is an organic compound that is always needed by the body that function to normal cell metabolism, growth & maintenance of body tissues. of the vitamins that are related to the formation of bone tissue is vitamin D.

Low vitamin D status is prevalent in the elderly are less exposed to sunlight & low plasma vitamin D, associated with an increased risk of hip fractures. A study in Boston showed that the variability of bone density associated with seasonal changes, associated with exposure to sunlight & vitamin D status

Vitamin D is vitamin that functions in the body is matchless since it is similar to hormone function. The main biological function of vitamin D is to maintain serum calcium & phosphorus concentrations within the normal range by increasing the efficiency of the small intestine to absorb these minerals from food. The main source of vitamin D is chiefly obtained from milk & other dairy products.

A clinical study that combines the use of vitamin D & calcium resulted in a significantly decreased incidence of fractures compared with the placebo group. Research conducted in ladies group Nurse's Health Study who took vitamin D> 12.5 g have an increased risk of hip fractures 75% lower than the group who consumed
